Attributed to Adolph D. Rinck (French, b. c. 1810, active New Orleans 1840-71), Humphrey Children with Their Parrot, c. 1847, oil on canvas, unsigned, A.D. Rinck inscribed on stretcher, 29.5in. x 24 in. in a period giltwood frame. E4000-6000 Provenance: Ruth Fortin ( daughter of Margaret Humphrey) to the Collection of Gretchen and Alonzo Lansford. This group portrait depicts three of the six children of Alexandre and Alicia (nee Deloma) Humphrey of Longview Plantation, located near Lutcher. From left to right are Elizabeth Lauve, Alexandre Jr. and Elodie. 671. E1200-1800 Note: This portrait of the USS Kearsage depicts the vessel that sank the famous Confederate Raider CSS Alabama off the coast of France on 12 June 1864 It is believed that Gamain, a Le Havre painter, was an eyewitness to the sinking of the Alabama.
