Attributed to Conrad Alfred Albrizio (American/New Orleans, 1894-1973), "Voodoo Night Dance", oil on canvas, unsigned, 18 in. x 20 in., unframed.

    Notes:
  • Note: In 1935 Conrad Albrizio joined the faculty at Louisiana State University where he taught art for over twenty years. An advocate for public art in the South, he earned numerous mural commissions including a set for the Louisiana State Capital. Albrizio embraced the modernist movement of the early and mid twentieth century. In this exuberant scene, a group of African-Americans are depicted at nighttime in the midst of voodoo dance and ritual.
