[ATTRIBUTED TO HANS HOLBEIN, THE YOUNGER ARTIST] An album of wood engravings being illustrations from the Old Testament. The 108 biblical plates are identified as having come from a Bible printed in Zurich in 1507. Some of the plates are trimmed close to the plate, several retain portions of page text and each plate is identified with book, chapter and verse. Appended at the rear of the album are a page of 10 miniature portraits, a plate depicting a wolf and a lamb, a map of the Rhine from Strasburg to Frankfurt and the surrounding country, together with an illustration of a fortified town, a multi-spired city a river city, and a group of cannon being fired. The latter is signed with initials DK. 19th century binding with illuminated manuscript vellum.
