Attributed to Thomas Hudson (English, 1701-1779), "Portrait of Elizabeth, Viscountess Hinchingbrooke, née Elizabeth Popham", oil on canvas, inscribed "Elizabeth Vicountess/Hinchingbrook Daut./of Alexnd. Popham Esq." lower left, with label reading "W.D. Storey, Picture Frame Maker and Mounter, Huntingdon" and a label reading "Purchased by me from Sandwich Castle, Huntingdon, England, summer 1957, Alvin C. Detwiler Fine Antiques, 533 Royal Street, New Orleans" en verso, 50 in. x 40 in., in a carved and giltwood frame.

Note: Elizabeth Popham Montagu, Viscountess Hinchingbrooke, was the wife of Edward Richard Montagu, the son of the third Earl of Sandwich; they resided at their Castle in Huntingdon, known as Hinchingbrooke House. Hinchingbrooke House, which was also briefly home to the Cromwell family, was originally built in the 11th century as a convent. In the 20th century, the house was incorporated into Hinchingbrooke School and houses the 6th form in the British secondary school.
