Auguste Leroy (French School, early 20th c.), "The Old Harbor at Collioure, France", oil on canvas, signed and dated lower left "Leroy '08", 21 1/2 in. x 25 1/2 in., in a vintage carved giltwood frame, with dealer label of Classic Antiquities Ltd., Los Angeles, en verso. Note: Collioure's picturesque port, with its 12th c. castle and 14th c. church, attracted generations of artists to this tiny fishing village (also famous for its anchovies) in the extreme south of France, on the Catalan border with Spain. The Hotel des Templiers, near the harbor, preserves an interesting collection of paintings contributed by visiting artists.
