Autograph Letter Signed by Lieutenant Colonel Freeman to Governor William C.C. Claiborne, dated from New Orleans, August 6th, 1805, one sheet, laid paper, folded, with "W Kingsford" watermark, 9 3/4 in. x 8 in., detailing the request from a Colonel Wilson, "to supply provisions for runaway Negroes", full text available.
- Notes: Note: Colonel Constant Freeman served in the Revolutionary War and, in 1802, became a Lieutenant Colonel of the First United States Artillery and was Commander of Military Forces in New Orleans. He corresponded with Governor Claiborne on various military and civil issues and retired after serving in the War of 1812
