Description:

Ben Earl Looney (American/Louisiana, 1904-1981), "Atchafalaya", oil on masonite, signed lower left, 36 in. x 48 in., framed. Note: An artist and author, Ben Earl Looney attended Louisiana State University, Centenary College, and the Corcoran College of Art and Design. Creating works of art, writing stories and poems, and teaching art at LSU and the Ringling School of Art were his primary occupations, although he also traveled to teach throughout the United States. His Cajun scenes, which include sinuous lines and expressionistic colors, were often created during his later years living in Lafayette, Louisiana. This monumental depiction of Louisiana egrets in their natural habitat is among Looney’s finest works.
