Note: Although she initially studied with William Merritt Chase from 1908-1912, Lazzell finally became a modernist under the tutelage of avant-garde professor Charles Guerin at the Academie Moderne in Paris She returned to Paris to continue her studies in Abstraction with such luminaries as Andre Lhote, Albert Gleizes, Fernand Leger in 1923-1924 and was exhibited at the Salon d'Automne from then until 1930, when she returned to the United States.
