New York 1909, active New Orleans, 1883-1909), "Carolina Mountain Stream", oil on canvas, signed and dated "1883" lower right, label en verso, 21.5in. x 29.5in E3000-5000 Provenance: Descended in the family of original owner, prominent New Orleans attorney, John Dart 1888-1980), 3207 Coliseum St., Garden District, New Orleans. Dart was a member of the Pickwick Club for more than 65 years, as well as an enthusiastic long-time member of the Rex Organization. Note: Wikstrom designed and created New Orleans Carnival pageants beginning in the early 1880s, and became the city's most noted Carnival designer during the 1880s and 1890s, particularly for the Rex and Proteus organizations.
