Carl Kauba (Austrian/American, 1865-1922), A Commemorative Bronze Aviation-Related Plaque, c. 1911, bronze with gold patina, designed, sculpted and cast by the artist, signed bottom right "C. Kauba", presented to pioneer Austrian aviator Hans Ritter Frankwell von Umlauff for setting a round trip flight record between Vienna and Budapest, showing the record-breaking aircraft, the Lohner-Daimler Pfeilflieger (Arrow Flyer), bearing the name of "Rittmeister" ( Ridemaster) von Umlauff, and the dates and times of the record-setting flight, 2 11/16 x 6 5-16 in., in the original silk-lined leather case with Kauba's name and studio address.
