A Fine American Rococo Carved Mahogany "Duchesse" Dressing Table, mid-19th c., oval mirror with scrolled surround, surmounted by flower basket over a cabochon, scroll supports, serpentine variegated white marble top, conforming frieze drawer, cabriole legs, X stretcher, lobed finial, casters, height 66 1/4 in., width 41 1/2 in., depth 23 3/4 in Provenance: Descended in a New Orleans family. Note: The lower portion of this dressing table is nearly identical to that on a rosewood duchesse descended in the Hincks family of New Orleans; accompanied by a Bill of Sale from Prudent Mallard and sold by Neal Auction Company as lot 307 on September 30, 2006.
