Description:

An American Classical Carved Mahogany Tea Table, early 19th c., attributed to Anthony G. Quervelle, Philadelphia, circular tilt top, gadrooned and acanthus carved standard, incurvate triangular plinth, acanthine paw feet, casters, height 30 in., diameter 35 in Note: This table incorporates a standard that is virtually identical to the standard of a well-known tea table with a firm attribution to Anthony G. Quervelle on the basis of its association with a games table labeled by Quervelle, both of which were made in c.1820-1830 for John and Rebecca Ruckman of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. The standard of each table features the typical Quervelle "spouting fountain" of downward-sloping acanthus leaves in combination with distinctive gadrooning and a molded ring carved with acanthus leaves.
