E18000-24000 Note: As an artist, teacher and museum curator, Charles Wellington Boyle was a prominent and active member of the New Orleans art community at the turn of the century. Born in Lewisburg, Louisiana, Boyle studied at the Art Students' League in New York and with New Orleans artists Paul Poincy and Andres Molinary. Boyle was a founding member of the Southern Art Union and Artists Association of New Orleans. From 1911 to 1922, he served as curator at the Delgado Museum (now the New Orleans Museum of Art). This impressionistically rendered painting depicts one of the majestic Live Oak trees of New Orleans' City Park.
