PLEASE NOTE: One of Boyle's early and major works, this realistically depicted 1885 scene portrays a south Louisiana sugar cane field with two black workers and a mule tilling. This quintessential southern panorama would have been exceedingly familiar to the Lewisburg, LA born artist.
