Arguably one of the world’s most elegant and aromatically complex wines, this great first-growth’s track record is the most consistently stellar of all five first growths. Haut-Brion is also the only first growth to be American owned. The Dillon family purchased it in 1935 in very poor condition and with considerable investment in the vineyards and wine cellars, this property is now one of the showpieces of Bordeaux. The Graves region where this château is located contributes to a different aromatic profile and mineral expression than its counterparts. Additionally, the extreme measures that are taken to ensure the pristine quality of the fruit and resulting wine are not common requiring an immense amount of dedication from the Haut-Brion team. The 1966 is a more delicate expression of Haut-Brion but one that will nevertheless deliver a memorable and exciting drinking experience for an almost 60 year old wine.
