A Rare Chinese "Eccentric" Carved Hardwood Libation Cup, 17th/18th c., carved as an inverted mountain peak enveloped in the leafy branches and tendrils of a fruiting grape vine above a small squirrel near the base, height 4 1/4 in., width 4 3/4 in., depth 3 7/8 in Provenance: Collection of George de Menasce (1890-1967), (No. 107), London; Spink & Son, London; George W. Headley III, Lexington, KY, 1971; the Headley-Whitney Museum, Lexington, KY (Acc. No. 81.9.9). Exhibited: The George de Menasce Collection, Spink & Son, London, May 10 to 26, 1971.
