A Chinese Gilt Decorated Cinnabar-Orange Bowl-Form Ink Cake, probably Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), bowl form body carved to the interior well with a central roundel enclosing a pair of gilt five-clawed dragons flanking the characters "imperially bestowed", the exterior banded with four pairs of confronting horned dragons contesting flaming pearls above a ruy band, base inscribed "made by Cao Sugong in Qianlong period, Qing Dynasty", height 2 3/8 in., diameter 6 in Note: For a similar bowl-form red ink cake, see Minnieapolis Institute of Arts, accession no. 200.154
