A Pair of Chinese Glazed Pottery Qilin Form Candle Stands, probably early Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), each mythical beast modeled standing on an inscribed rectangular plinth grasping in its mouth a large lingzhi stem surmounted by a banner bearing a two character inscription, one banner with a spike at the top, pottery height 8 3/8 in., wood stands, overall height 9 3/4 in Provenance: Acquired c. 1920s-1930s; thence by descent in the family of Madelyn Cohn Cahn Conne Kiam Kreisler (b. 1890, New Orlenas - d. 1975, New York).
