[CIVIL WAR, PORT HUDSON, LOUISIANA Parole for Paul Capdevielle. Partially printed document dated July 11, 1863 for Corporal Paul Capdevielle of "Boones Battery". Approved by Major J.T. Coleman, commanding "Miles Legion". Counter-signed by the Paroling Officer andexchanged May 3rd. E400/600 Note: Paul Capdevielle was a member of Boone's Louisiana Artillery which fought at the siege of Port Hudson where he was captured following the fort's defeat by the Union forces Following his parole and return to the Confederacy he joined LeGardeur's Battery and remained with them for the duration of the war The Battery surrendered to General Sherman on April 26th, 1865 and was parolled on May 2nd almost a month after Lee's surrender at Appomattox. Capdevielle was mayor of the city of New Orleans 1900- 1904.
