Clarence John Laughlin (American/Louisiana, 1905-1986), "Two Eras in Cabildo History", vintage silver gelatin print, handwritten en verso "Neg. #3456, p. #267, 5/3/46, pub +1", 30 in. x 40 in. E8000/10000 Provenance: Previously in the collection of Clarence John Laughlin's son. Note: During World War II, Clarence John Laughlin was stationed in Washington D.C. According to the records of The Historic New Orleans Collection, the negative for "Two Eras in Cabildo History" was shot on May 11, 1941. Laughlin used oversized army mat paper to print this photograph on May 3, 1946. Laughlin produced a limited series of these oversized photographs examples of which for many years hung in the men's department in Godchaux's Department Store on Canal Street.
