American Classical Carved Cherrywood and Satinwood Two-Part Dining Table, early 19th c., New York, each top with canted corners, molded flame veneered frieze, tapered and chamfered pedestal support, incurvate plinth, foliate bracketed paw feet, casters, h. 28 1/2 in., l. 85 5/8 in., w. 44 1/4 in. Note: American dining tables of two-part form incorporating rounded corners and a convex frieze raised on pedestal supports are most often associated with Philadelphia cabinetmakers. Anthony Quervelle and Michel Bouvier are amongst the foremost Philadelphia cabinetmakers well-known for their practice of incorporating French Empire and English Regency elements within the highly successful Philadelphia Neoclassical style.
