American Classical Parcel Gilt and Carved Mahogany Games Table, c. 1830, labeled "S & J. Rawson, Jr. / No. 68, Broad Street, Providence", foldover swivel top, gilt stenciled frieze, stop-fluted acanthus carved baluster standard, scrolled acanthus paw feet, casters, h. 30 3/4 in., w. 36 in., d. 18 in. Note: Joseph Rawson learned his trade from his father Grindall Rawson, a well-established Providence, Rhode Island cabinetmaker who ran his workshop from 1741 to 1803. Joseph and his sons established a third generation cabinetmaking operation which was listed in an 1828 directory at 68 Broad Street.
