Columbus, Mississippi A.L.S. An interesting correspondence addressed to John Symonds Esq. from one A.S. Pfister dated 29th July, 1847 and postmarked Tuscaloosa, Alabama in which is mentioned "..there is to be a fine female school established" (in Columbus, Mississippi) and that a Mr. Smith might be its proprietor. Also mentioned is "...the Castle" and various citizens of Columbus -Ricks, Buchanan, Mathews, Mr. Brant & family, Signeura Borov ?, Capt. Albert and Bro. Milliam. The writer further states that Tuscaloosa "is exceedingly dull" and regrets that Mr. Symonds' "...lot was not chosen for the building of the City Hall..."
