Constance Forsyth (American-Texas, 1903-1987), "The Birds, Texas Gulf Coast", watercolor on paper, signed lower left "C. Forsyth", 161/2 in x 221/2 in. E1000-1500 Provenance: Estate of Constance Forsyth and thence by descent. Note: The middle daughter of Hoosier Group artist William Forsyth, Constance "Connie" Forsyth followed in the footsteps of her acclaimed father by becoming a painter, printmaker and instructor. After teaching at John Herron Art Institute along with her father, Constance accepted a position in 1940 at the newly established Art Department of The University of Texas at Austin. A charmingly unconventional woman, Constance was both a productive and respected artist as well as a dedicated teacher.
