(3 bottles) Provenance: Stored in Martin's Wine Cellar long-term storage facility at Wines Unlimited, New Orleans, LA since 2012. Note: Neal Auction would like to thank Liz Dowdy Mitchell, Advanced Sommelier, Head of Wine at Vinovest for her assistance in cataloguing this lot.

The wines of the Dujac family are arguably more famous internationally than any other producer (besides DRC). This is attributed to Jacques Seysses and his wife who had the foresight to invest in markets outside of France in the late ‘70s. However, it all started in 1967 when he purchased Domaine Graillet in Morey St Denis and renamed it Domaine Dujac. He immediately realized that the way to coax the most terroir out of the resulting wines was to take care of the vineyards in a revolutionary way at the time. So since 1986, the vineyards are farmed with organic and biodynamic practices and the least amount of intervention possible which produces very high-quality fruit. He also became a leading advocate of including a good amount of stems in the fermentation process. His belief was that the mature stems actually reduced the amount of hard tannins in the resulting wine. Today, Jacques’s son Jeremy is transitioning as the winemaker with his wife Diana Snowden (of Napa Valley heritage) overseeing the cellar management. In 2005, the size of the domaine went from 5 to 15.5ha when several outstanding vineyards were acquired from Domaine Thomas-Moillard. It is one of the most dynamic and exciting domaines in all of Burgundy! Not only is the Echézeaux bottling from Domaine Dujac one of their finest Grand Cru wines out of the 7 that they produce; it is always one of the best in show out of all the Echézeauxs made in any vintage.
