Emilie De Hoa Leblanc ( American/New Orleans, 1870-1941, "Village Landscape with Church Steeple", oil on board, sight: 13.5in. x 19.75 x 17.5in.5in. Note: Emilie De Hoa Leblanc received a diploma in Normal Art from Newcomb College in 1897 She was one of the first members of the pottery decor ation class. Leblanc continued her art educ ation at the gradu ate level at Newcomb and was a pottery worker from 1901-1905 Together with her sister, Marie, she studied with various respected artists throughout Europe. Leblanc taught at several public schools throughout New Orleans for 41 years. She was the New Orleans delegate to the International Art Congress in Dresden in 1912 and in Paris in 1937 Tulane University retroactively awarded Leblanc a Bachelor of Design in 1921 Ref: Newcomb Pottery by Jessie Poesch, Schiffer, pub.
