An American Federal Carved Mahogany Bowfront Chest of Drawers, early 19th c., Salem, MA, top with turreted corners, conforming case with four graduated drawers flanked by reeded columns, turned legs ending in ball feet, height 42 1/2 in., width 45 in., depth 20 in Note: The carving on this chest relates to chests which were most likely carved by Samuel McIntire (1757-1811) or his son Samuel Field McIntire (1780-1819). Samuel McIntire, who worked closely with his son, is also known to have worked on special commissions for other furniture makers. Reference: Montgomery, Charles F.
