Lot 54
Follower of Jakob Ferdinand Voet (Flemish, 1639-1700), 'Portrait of a Court Beauty", possibly Maria Anna Mancini (1639-1716), oil on canvas unsigned, 26.5in. x 23 in., unframed. Note: This portrait follows a type pioneered by Sir Anthony Van Dyck for beauties at the court of King Charles of England, and continued after the restoration of King Charles II by Pierre Mignard, as well as by Voet. A very similar portrait attributed to a follower of Voet, also thought perhaps to represent Maria Mancini, sold at Bonham's, London on July 6, 2004. It depicts the same bust, dress and sleeve type, though this face is closer to the other portraits of the presumed sitter.
