Frederick Volck (German- American, 1833-1891), bronze bust of General Robert E. Lee, labeled with sitter's name on front of socle and inscribed on reverse truncation "Frederick Volck/1863/Richmond, Virginia", height 19 in., width 12 in., depth 8 in., with 2 in. high black marble circular plinth. E4000-5000 Note: Volck was a native of Nuremburg who emigrated to Virginia and served in the Confederate Naval Ordinance Department, being stationed in Richmond. This bronze is cast after Volck's original terracotta model, made as an inspiration to rally support for the Confederate cause.
