French, late 18th c., Two Plates From Denis Diderot, "Le Grand Encyclopedie", each after a drawing of Goussier, engraved by Bernard, one of "Economie Rustique, Indigoterie", illustrating indigo cultivation in the French Antilles, the other, of "Economie Rustique, Basse Cour", of a half-dozen buildings ringing a barnyard, with details of a pigeonniere and other structures, each height 16.5in., width 10.5in., together with a French Map of the Gulf of Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean, published by P. Lapie as plate 41 of an atlas, with traces of original watercolor boundaries, early 19th c., height 10.5in., width 15.5in. (loose sheets).
