A Fine French Patinated Bronze Figure of a Male River God (perhaps the River Illisos) from the West Pediment of the Temple of Athena at Athens (the Parthenon), after Pheidias, mid-19th c., a version of a plaster copy at the original size, with the reduction seal of Achille Collas and an early founder's mark "F. Barbedienne" both contemporaneous with this cast; and with "A. Rodin" spuriously inscribed at a later date, height 14 1/4 in., width 30 1/2 in., depth 10 in Provenance: Brodney Art Gallery, Boston; George W. Headley III, Lexington, KY (Acc. No. 82.3.1).
