Friedrich Ritter Von Amerling (Austrian, 1803- 1887), "Portrait of Young Gentleman", oil on canvas, signed lower left Amerling Prag, 1826", period label on back identifying sitter, original gilt molded frame, 12in. x 10in. E1000-1500 Note: Friedrich Amerling worked first as a coloring and highlight artist for maps and engravings. In 1816, he entered the Vienna Academy and traveled to England in 1824, to study with Thomas Lawrence. Further training with Horace Vernet in Paris led him to commissions with royalty. he is represented in many Eastern European Museums.
