George Rodrigue (American/Louisiana, b. 1944), "Louisiana Legacy", 1981, bronze artist proof #1, edition of 20 with 10 artist proofs, height 14 in. E10000/15000 Note: This rare sculpture by George Rodrigue depicts Evangeline, Gabriel and Longfellow under the Evangeline Oak. The piece was created as a study for the life sized version that stands in Kaliste Saloom Park in Lafayette, Louisiana. The sculpture was cast in a foundry in Italy and this is the first proof in the edition. Rodrigue is known primarily as a painter. This piece represents his only endeavor into sculpture.
