George Rodrigue (American/Louisiana, b. 1944), "Blue Eyes for Me", 1991, oil on canvas, signed lower right, titled and inscribed en verso, 24 in. x 20 in., attractively framed Provenance: Purchased from the artist, 1991. Note: The lovely blue-eyed young lady depicted in this lot was painted in Rodrigue's transitional period. At this point in his career, Rodrigue had begun to paint his "Loup-Garou" paintings, which were a precursor to his Blue Dog series. However, he was still including the Cajun swamp scenes with oak trees and Spanish moss in the background of most of his paintings.
