An English Gothic Gilt Bronze Solar Lamp, mid-19th c., marked "Messengers", cluster column shaft and paneled base with standing women in religious garb, the font hung with icicle prisms, the opaline overlay shade cut with quatrefoils and panels, height 31 in Illustrated: Lebow, "A Gothic Tale," House and Garden, (May 1987), p. 193. Reference: A nearly identical lamp can be found in Gowitt, 19th Century Elegant Lighting, pgs. 210-211.
