Grace Luse (American/Ohio, 20th c.), "Terminal Tower, Cleveland, Ohio", oil on canvas board, signed lower right and en verso, 18 in. x 14 in., unframed.
Note: Grace Luse, a WPA sculptor from Cleveland, worked under Edris Eckhardt in 1938, firing and glazing clay in Eckhart's studio when Eckhardt was away. Luse also created a series of family groups in clay during this time period. Although painting was not her usual medium, Luse's handling of the paint in a flat and modernist manner befits the composition and subject matter she has chosen - a cityscape in Luse's hometown, Cleveland.
