Henry Casselli (American/New Orleans, b. 1946), "Hopscotch", 1974, oil wash on paper, signed and dated lower right, signed, titled and dated en verso, sheet 29 3/4 in. x 22 1/4 in., Gothic-frame constructed by the artist Note: Born in New Orleans' Ninth Ward, Henry Casselli studied at the McCrady School of Fine and Applied Arts on Bourbon Street in the French Quarter, where he developed a close student-teacher relationship with the great southern artist, John McCrady. In the 1970s, Casselli began to earn considerable success with his work and exhibited at the American Watercolor Society and National Academy of Design. He was commissioned to paint the portrait of President Ronald Reagan now at the National Portrait Gallery.
