A New Orleans Coin Silver Presentation Compote, Hyde & Goodrich, New Orleans, engraved in script in the reserve "Southern Yacht Club July 17th, 1854", marked "Hyde & Goodrich/Pure Coin/New Orleans, LA", height 5 1/4 in., diameter 7 3/8 in., weight 9.90 troy ozs Note: Founded in 1849 in Pass Christian, MS, and relocated to New Orleans in 1857, the Southern Yacht Club is the second oldest yacht club in the United States. Their annual New Orleans to Pass Christian "Race to the Coast", which began in 1850, is the oldest continuous yachting event in this hemisphere. Antebellum SYC trophies are quite rare.
