Ida Rittenberg Kohlmeyer (American/New Orleans, 1912-1997), "Synthesis Drawing B", 1982, mixed media on paper, signed and dated lower left, Mint Museum exhibition label en verso, 60 in. x 40 in. Accompanied by an autographed and dedicated copy of the exhibition catalogue Ida Kohlmeyer: Thirty Years.

Included in the traveling exhibition "Ida Kohlmeyer: Thirty Years", organized by the Mint Museum, Department of Art, Charlotte, North Carolina, 1983. Reproduced in the accompanying exhibition catalogue, p. 97, no. 59. Note: This work was completed the year prior to the 1983 exhibition "Ida Kohlmeyer: Thirty Years" in which it was included. After fully developing her tight grid style paintings in the late 1970s, Kohlmeyer deconstructs her symbols to create larger expressionistic geometric forms. As exemplified by the painting offered here, Kohlmeyer¹s energy and tension created a beautiful contrast of forms against the seemingly void ground of the work.
