American Federal Inlaid Mahogany Washstand, 19th c., probably John Needles, Baltimore, King of Prussia marble top, backsplash with three storage compartments, two graduated drawers, sliding bidet drawer on casters, reeded stiles, turned tapered feet, h. 33 in., w. 24 3/4 in., d. 23 in. Note: The specific gallery configuration on this washstand is nearly identical to one advertised by John Needles in 1826. A similar washstand was made for William Gibson Tighlman (1784-1844) of Grosses, Talbot County, was exhibited by the Maryland Historical Society in 1993. Ref.: Weidman, Gregory.
