Italian School, 19th c., "The Goddess Diana" (possibly after a painted prototype), inscribed "Baratta.Carrara", on a square marble socle, height 24 3/4 in Note: Possibly of the same famous family of 17th, 18th, and 19th century Italian sculptors as Francesco Baratta the Elder (an assistant of Bernini's, d. 1666), Giovanni Baratta (1670-1747), and the latter's relatives Francesco Baratta the Younger (1805-1835), and Pietro Baratta (1659-1729).
