Museum", collector's stamp verso. E8000-12000 Note: "The Duet" depicts Whistler's wife Beatrix and her sister Ethel Birnie Philip playing the piano in the Whistlers' Paris home. Mr. McLaren Young is one of the foremost authorities on Whistler, and one of the authors of the Whistler paintings catalogue raisonn‚. Glasgow University is home to the Centre for Whistler Studies, which is focused upon scholarship about the artist and his circle.
