Jeanne Garcin (French, late 19th c.), "Posing Male Nud$E", charcoal on paper, initialed en verso, 23 in. x 16 3/4 in., unframed. Provenance: Estate of James R. Lamantia Jr. Note : Lamantia's inscription, en verso, states that Mlle. Garcin was a pupil of Louis Guy. The presence of sheeting around the lower torso of this model explains how a woman artist came to be admitted to a life drawing class (an ""academy"") in the presence of an otherwise nude male model."
