Jenö Karpathy (Hungarian, 1870-1905), "Cow by a River in the Carpathian Mountain Range", oil on canvas, signed lower right, 23 1/2 in. x 33 in., framed.

  • Notes: Note: Karpathy studied with the great Hungarian Romantic painter Bertalan Szekely (1835-1910) in Budapest before moving to Paris and then Brussels. He worked and exhibited in Belgium until the outbreak of World War I, when he returned to Hungary. Karpathy is known for his evocative scenes of the Hungarian landscape, particularly of the Carpathian Mountain region.
