Johannes Wilhelm van der Heide (Dutch/German, 1878-1902), "The Sheep Herder", oil on canvas, signed lower right, 21 in. x 31 1/4 in., in a cove molded giltwood frame. Note: Van der Heide was born in Amsterdam, but worked most of his life in Munich. He attended the Art Academy in his home city before moving to Germany to study with the landscape painter Heinrich Johann von Zugel (German, 1850-1941) at the Munich Academy. Van der Heide exhibited in Amsterdam and Munich, and his works are in museum collections across Europe.
