Jules Lion (American/Louisiana, 1810-1866), "Albert Du Bayet", lithograph, signed and dated "1860" in the plate, 8 1/2 in. x 7 in. E400-600 Provenance: Martha and Ray Samuel Collection, New Orleans. Note: A French-born free man of color, Jules Lion created a series of lithographs of prominent Louisianans of the day. Like many artists, Lion embraced the emerging medium of photography.
