Description:

Lalique "America's 32nd Cup" Clear and Frosted Glass Center Bowl, engraved "Lalique France", numbered "136/320", designed by Javier Mariscal, molded with geometric patterns and "32", engraved "America's 32nd Cup", h. 6 1/4 in., dia. 9 1/4 in. Provenance: Ex-Collection Dr. Roger Hatchette, New Orleans, LA. Note: The 32nd America's Cup, the world's most famous and prestigious regatta, was hosted in Valencia, Spain in 2007. As part of the celebration, Lalique commissioned Javier Mariscal, who created the graphic design for the competition, to create a limited edition commemorative bowl, as seen here. The bold typeface and geometric, linear patterns evoke the stylized flags and team logos emblazoned on the competitors' sailboats. Ref.: "The Cup Runneth Over." Yachting Magazine.
