Laurence C. Edwardson (American/New Orleans, 1904-1995), "Spring, Westwego Canal, New Orleans", oil on masonite, signed lower right, signed and titled en verso, sight 23.25in. x 29in. E1200-1800 Note: A painter and photographer, Laurence C. Edwardson studied at the Hartford Art School in Connecticut. In 1954, Edwardson moved south and opened a studio in the French Quarter. In this vibrantly colored modernist influenced painting, "Spring, Westwego Canal, New Orleans," Edwardson depicts a tranquil setting of a cabin in the bayou with two small boats docked by the boathouse. Edwardson's paintings are in the Jazz Collection of the Louisiana State Museum and The Historic New Orleans Collection.
