Description:

LOUIS ARMSTRONG A Letter Typewritten and Signed by Louis Armstrong, on "Satchmo" letterhead, dated June 30th, 1955, to his manager, Joe Glaser. Armstrong is asking to borrow money and mentions the birth of an illegitimate daughter: "P.S. Now-last but not least..You must keep this under the hat--'Sweets' has just given birth to a fine little baby girl...Of course, quite naturally she at least expects me to do a little something towards, a little present, pay the doctor bill, or, - 'Somphin'...Ya Dig?" E1500/2500 Note: Jazz "Superagent" Joe Glaser was Louis Armstrong's agent from 1935 until his death in 1969. Armstrong had known Glaser when he was manager of the Sunset Cafe' in Chicago in the 1920s. Glaser was allegedly connected to the Al Capone mob, but proved to be a great manager and friend to Louis Armstrong, as this letter intimates.
