Description:
Luke Edward Wright's Silver Presentation Cane, c. 1901, the top engraved with conjoined initials "L.E.W." and "Vice-Governor, Philippine Islands", the waist engraved with the Great Seal of the United States and a Philippine village scene, the shaft also inlaid with swags, circles and diamonds, length 36 1/2 in. Note: In 1900, Wright was a member of the second Philippine Commission and was appointed Vice-Governor of the Philippines in 1901 He became Governor-General in 1904 and held that position until 1906.
